Force Measuring Roller

FMS force measuring rollers of the RMGZ100B series are used to measure the tension in ropes, cables, wires and narrow web materials.

 

 

 

 

RMGZ 100 B Series

The RMGZ100B series force measuring roller is used to measure the tension in wire, cable and similar materials. An application specific sheave or pulley is
mounted to the two lifetime lubricated ball bearings.

 

 

 

 

Functional Description

The RMGZ100B series force measuring rollers works according to the dual flexion beam design. A quadruple foil type strain gauge mounted in a full Wheatstone bridge configuration performs the actual tension measurement.
This measuring principal ensures tension measurement with the highest accuracy also for low forces and at small wrap angles.

EMGZ310 Series

The digital tension measuring amplifiers of the EMGZ 310 Series are suitable for

Functional Description

The mV signal generated by the force sensors is amplified and fed directly
to a high resolution A/D-converter.
Both Voltage and Current outputs are provided as standard. Functions like
signal filtering, automatic offset compensation, and gain calculation are all part

The A 203-Series Force Measuring Sensors is for use in live shaft roller applications. Their compact design and straightforward mounting concept provide new options in machines with difficult installation conditions. A203 Series

The A 203-Series Force Measuring Sensors is for use in live shaft roller applications. Their compact design and straightforward mounting concept
provide new options in machines with difficult installation conditions.
The installation to the machine side frame is simply accomplished with
only using a single mounting screw.
The red point indicates the positive force measuring direction.
A 203 Sensors ensure highly accurate measuring results with any web
material and sizes. Their durability and operational reliability is excellent.

 

 

Functional Description

Foil type strain gauges mounted in a full Wheatstone Bridge configuration
in each sensor perform the actual tension measurement. The force values
are received in the FMS measuring amplifier for further processing. The
dual flexion beam design of this sensor eliminates angular deflection under
load and ensures tension measurement with the highest accuracy and reliability. A built in mechanical hard-stop provides high overload protection for operation under the most stringent requirements. The M 8 connector enables straightforward wiring with the amplifier. The A 203-Series is compatible with the full line of FMS electronics.

에프엠에스(FMS) ZMGZ Series

The ZMGZ Series force measuring journals are used to measure the tension in continuous material processing lines.

Force measuring journals are utilized with rollers that have an internal bearing.

A bearing mounts to the bearing seat of the load cell and fits inside the roller.
Thus the ZMGZ Series saves machine mounting space and providing a compact tension measuring roller assembly.

 

 

Functional Description
The ZMGZ Series force measuring journals utilize the flexion beam principle. When the Journal is subjected to a force, bending stress is applied to the measuring web. Four foil-type strain gauges in a full Wheatstone bridge configuration measure the bending and thus the material tension. The position of the red point depends on the application. If the force acts in the direction of the red point, positive values will result from the measuring amplifier output.

AMGZ

The AMGZ Series sensors are designed as dead shaft sensors to allow easy roller change in continuous material processing applications. They can be easily mounted with 1 bolt to the machine frame. The red point on the connector part of the sensor indicates the positive measuring direction. The high accuracy design ensures that even with low material wrap angles and high roller weights, tension can still be measured accurately.

 

 

Functional Description

Foil type strain gauges mounted in a full Wheastone Bridge configuration in each sensor perform the actual tension measurement. The flexion beam design ensures accurate measurement. This combination guarantees the highest accuracy and reliability. The shaft adapter can be turned against the sensor such that the sensor can be placed in measuring direction and the shaft can be inserted from top.

DMGZ 300

The DMGZ 300 Series load cells measure force in the direction of the center axis of the sensor. A force is applied via threaded shaft, or other means, to the measuring mechanism of the sensor. They can provide both compression or tension measurement. The integrated high overload protection protects the sensor against damage. Recalibration is not required.

 

 

Functional Description

Because of their ability to accept a wide range of standard sheaves they can be utilised very flexibly. Sheave and bearing mount to the bearing seat of the load cell. The assembly of sheave and sensor to the machine frame is straight forward and quickly done. The red point at the connector indicates the positive measuring direction.

 

 

Functional Description
Foil type strain gauges mounted in a full Wheatstone Bridge configuration in each sensor perform the actual tension measurement. The dual flexion beam design eliminates angular deflection under load and ensures tension measurement with the highest accuracy and reliability under the most stringent requirements. RMGZ 400 and RMGZ 600

FMS force measuring roller RMGZ 400/600 series are used to measure the tension in wires, cables and narrow flat materials. An application specific sheave is mounted to the covering of the lifetime lubricated ball bearings.
A mounting hole with a key-way is required in the machine frame.
The key-way holds the position pin which prevents the sensor from twisting. The location of the position pin depends on the direction of force and the position of the red point.

Functional Description

SMGZ

SMGZ force measuring blocks are extremely durable, accurate and reliable.

UMGZ.P Series

UMGZ.P force measuring blocks are meant to be a substitute for the discontinued Philips products PR 9951/52. The measuring blocks from FMS are with regards to the outline dimensions and mounting holes 1-to-1 compatible with the former Philips blocks. The FMS blocks feature exceptional durability and operational reliability. Constructed of stainless steel and with their high overload protection these rugged products provide accurate web tension measurement even under the most stringent requirements. They are used in any application where an easy access to and fast change of rollers is vital.

 

 

Measuring Principle

The measuring force is applied via the plummer block to the force sensor.
A Wheatstone full-bridge circuit, containing four foil-based strain gauges, measures the current strip tension. This measuring signal is received in the FMS measuring amplifier for further processing. The used measuring principle eliminates angular deflection and ensures tension measurement with the highest accuracy and reliability even at low wrap angles and with heavy rollers. The UN-22 connector enables straightforward wiring with the amplifier. The UMGZ.P sensors are compatible with the full line of FMS electronics.

 

 

Functional Description

UMGZ.P load cell and plummer block together are combined to form the measuring point – an arrangement that allows for easy mounting and fast bearing / roller change. The UMGZ.P load cells measure the horizontal force component in both directions i. e. the force in longitudinal direction, parallel to the base plate. The red point on the force sensor indicates the positive measuring direction. The UMGZ.P force measuring blocks provide an extremely accurate and precise web tension measurement even with small wrap angles and heavy rollers.

CZ 205 Series

The force measuring journals of the CZ 205 Series undertake the tension measurement in all kinds of continuous material processing applications.
They are utilized with rollers that have an internal bearing with a bearing seat of 25 mm. The bearing mounts to the bearing seat of the load cell and fits inside the roller. This results in a compact tension measuring roller saving a lot machine mounting space.

LMGZ.D Series

Utilising a combination of stainless steel construction, a built in mechanical hard stop, and individual sensor performance verification, the LMGZ.D double range force measuring bearings are perfect for all high performance running web applications, where a very wide range of material tensions are present.

Functional Description

LMGZ.D double range force measuring bearings are design to combine the live shaft bearing with the tension sensor to minimise machine space requirements. They can be mounted in any orientation directly to the machine frame or with supports. The red point on the connector part of the sensor indicates the positive measuring direction. The high accuracy design ensures that tension can still be measured accurately even with low material wrap angles and different material types and widths.

 

 

Measuring Principle

Foil type strain gauges mounted in two independent full Wheatstone Bridge configurations in each sensor perform the actual tension measurement. The live shaft bearing applies the force to the two measuring webs in a parallel plane as opposed to a typical bending beam, thus ensuring maximum accuracy and measuring sensitivity. A mechanical hardstop for each measuring range, which operates in both directions, ensures the high overload protection and makes the sensor virtually indestructible. The two individual measuring signals are sent to the amplifier. When the maximum limit of the low nominal force range is reached, a mechanical hardstop prevent the sensor from overloading. Over this limit the high measuring range is used. This combination guarantees the highest accuracy and reliability without the need for recalibration. To ensure the best possible tension reading at the low measuring range the roller weight should be as low as possible

The application dependent calculations are done by the CAN-BUS® master.

The cover of the EMGZ 473.W housing has an electrical design identical to the PROFIBUS® standard plug on the EMGZ 474. This allows disconnection of the measuring amplifier from PROFIBUS® without disrupting the bus line.


The mV signal of the sensors is pre-amplified with a fixed gain and then fed directly to the A/D converter. Signal conditioning is done digitally. The PROFIBUS® interface provides flexible signal processing by the control unit.

For maximum flexibility, two different PROFIBUS® operating modes are possible:
„Feedback with status“ (4 data byte) and „Full Control“ (6 data byte).
